    1469-1527. An Italian statesman and writer whom many people consider the father of modern political science. He ranks as one of the most important political thinkers of the Renaissance.

  • Friedrich Nietzsche
    1844-1900. A German philosopher of uncommon gifts and profound influence. Author of The AntiChrist.

  • Plato
    427-347 BCE. A philosopher and educator of ancient Greece. He was one of the most important thinkers and writers in the history of Western culture.

  • Socrates
    469-399 BCE. A Greek philosopher and teacher. Socrates was one of the most original, influential, and controversial figures in ancient Greek philosophy and in the history of Western thought.

  • Baruch Spinoza
    1632-1677. A Dutch philosopher with the reputation of a freethinker and was excommunicated by the Jewish community in 1656.
